Very soon after last year’s event, many exhibitors were already making sure of their place in 2010 and a large number of visitors were saying they would be back next time.

MIDORA - RETROSPECTIVE 2009

The most important industry get-together for the watch & jewellery industry for autumn 2009 went well for exhibitors and visitors alike and the exhibition was characterized by an upbeat atmosphere. Some 3,100 industry visitors came to MIDORA to evaluate and order collections; the mid-range price-groups were particularly sought-after.

The focal point of this year's programme was the multi-functional watch forum. Dealers examined the latest models and obtained ordering information. Multi-functional watches are an important revenue-earner for dealers; they are also popular with customers interested in technology, sport and design and for those with a passion for collecting.

In the podium discussion on "No Spare Parts – Will Watches Stop Ticking?", the watch-making industry discussed the existential problem of regulating spare parts and repair work.

The exhibition on the subject of "Jewellery is Colourful; Opals in Jewellery" accompanying the "Young Cellinis 2009" competition introduced 148 pieces of jewellery by young artists from Germany, Italy and Austria and was very popular with those members of the public interested in jewellery.

Next year 80% of the exhibitors at MIDORA LEIPZIG said they would be coming again next year. The large number of regular visitors (75%) underscored the importance of the trade fair for Central Germany.
